A Message From Dan Sanders

Built to Serve is more than just another management book for business leaders to pick up, leaf through and put on the shelf. It is a message I firmly believe must be transmitted. That is the primary reason I wrote this book. As I said in the acknowledgements of Built to Serve, this book is a labor of love. The message of Built to Serve is a message from my heart and soul.

I feel fortunate to serve as CEO of United Supermarkets, a workplace where people are more valued than profits, where our team members understand concepts such as servanthood, where they see work as ministry and where they know what they do each and every day has a higher purpose. Built to Serve is about people, how to treat them, how to grow them and how to treasure them.

That said, it is important to remember Built to Serve calls for a fundamental shift in today’s workplace culture. People matter. That is the message. It is up to you to decide whether you will deliver it. >more
